I became a trademark attorney because trademarks impact everyone!

Before I was a trademark attorney, I was a chemical engineer.

Despite loving chemistry, part of me felt unfulfilled. I wanted to be challenged creatively and feel excited to go to work.

I decided to pursue law.

In law school, I knew I wanted to focus on intellectual property, and perhaps patent law. I thought I could combine my love of chemistry with my interest in law to create a compelling career path for myself.

However, not long after I began this course of study, I realized that my passion was lacking.

I honestly wondered if I should rethink my commitment to law school entirely. That is, until I got a summer internship working with trademarks.

Trademarks felt personal.

The stakes felt high and very visible. Trademarks are clearly seen wherever you go, and I started seeing and recognizing them everywhere! The more I worked in the field, the more deeply protective I felt of the work my clients had done to grow their businesses and reputations.

I learned that a “brand” or trademark is more than just a name, a logo or a national and international expansion plan. Brands are a culmination of the dreams, hopes and inspirational moments of real people. They represented the reputations businesses worked hard to build. As someone who loves people, strategy and watching others chase their dreams, I was sold. I felt excited about the projects I was working on and couldn’t wait to go to work each day.

I jumped in and became a trademark attorney.

I wake up every morning doing what I love for real people. I live in Ashland, Oregon with my husband and our two hilarious, adorable daughters. From my office in Southern Oregon, I get to be part of business families across the country.

I look forward to serving you!
